Ahmet Altay is a Software Engineering Director at Google Cloud, where he leads the teams behind BigLake and BigQuery Storage. His career has come full circle—beginning with storage hardware at SanDisk and now building managed, Apache Iceberg-based lakehouses that empower organizations to scale data processing. A veteran of the data infrastructure space, Ahmet previously led the Cloud Dataflow team and is a Member of the Apache Software Foundation and a contributor to Apache Beam. He holds a master’s from Stanford and previously worked at Microsoft on operating systems.
