Ehsan Adeli, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and by courtesy, of Biomedical Data Science, and of Computer Science at Stanford University. He directs the Stanford Translational Artificial Intelligence (STAI) Lab and serves as Co-Director of the Stanford AI for Mental Health Initiative and the Stanford AGILE Consortium. His research focuses on AI for aging, brain foundation models, and ambient intelligence systems that enable early detection of cognitive decline and neuropsychiatric symptoms in real-world settings. By integrating in-home monitoring and multimodal machine learning, his work aims to create objective, continuous measures of behavioral disorders and mental health conditions outside traditional clinical environments. Dr. Adeli’s core projects span aging research, neural mechanisms of movement disorders, and frameworks for detecting early indicators of Alzheimer’s disease and other psychiatric conditions. He has received multiple awards for his work on brain foundation and world models, advancing translational AI systems that bridge neuroscience, sensing, and clinical care.
