Matt Rouif is the co-founder and CEO of Photoroom. He has spent 15 years building photo and video editing apps, and more than a decade working at the intersection of AI and visual computing.
As a student at Polytechnique and later Stanford, Matt began building photo apps while still on campus — drawn to the idea that powerful creative tools shouldn’t be reserved for professionals.
He later led product for Quick Video Editor before joining GoPro, where he oversaw image and video editing products used by millions worldwide. As commerce rapidly shifted online, he saw a new problem emerging: businesses were being judged by their imagery, yet the tools to create accurate, professional visuals were still too complex, too expensive, or not built for scale.
In 2018, Matt left GoPro to start Photoroom — combining his experience in visual tools and AI to make high-fidelity image creation accessible to every business. His focus has remained constant: move fast with AI, without ever compromising product accuracy or trust.
