Simon Hørup Eskildsen is the co-founder and CEO of turbopuffer, a serverless search engine built on object storage that powers products like Cursor, Notion, and Anthropic. Previously, he spent eight years at Shopify as a principal engineer and director, where he helped scale the platform from 1k to 1M requests per second, working on sharding, multi-region failover, and resiliency. He is the creator of Logrus, a widely used Go logging library, and maintains Napkin Math, a popular resource for estimating system performance from first principles. Simon co-founded turbopuffer in 2023 to refactor the economics of search, creating a database that could handle new AI search workloads at a much lower cost than traditional search infrastructure.
