Michael Demissie is Managing Director and Head of Applied AI and Practice at BNY’s AI Hub. 
Since joining BNY in 2019, he has built enterprise-level capabilities for applying AI and emerging technologies, first founding the Advanced Solutions Group and later leading the Applied AI team globally. His team delivers high-impact AI solutions that enhance services, power new client offerings, and enable colleagues to innovate responsibly on Eliza, BNY’s enterprise AI platform.
Previously, Michael established and led BNY’s Digital Assets Unit, driving the bank’s entry into digital asset services, including the 2022 launch of Digital Asset Custody—the first by a systemically important financial institution. He also led the Global Innovation Centers, fostering collaboration among product, technology, and client teams to prototype solutions for evolving client needs.
